We want to make sure you fully understand your treatment. Below outlines the directions, benefits and risks with Spironolactone + Clindamycin Formula.
This combination medication is used to treat acne.
Clindamycin is a topical antibiotic that kills acne-causing bacteria and decreases skin inflammation. Spironolactone is a topical antiandrogen that decreases oil production and reduces acne.
Although redness and peeling can occur, this medication is generally well tolerated. Your skin will adjust to the medication over time.
✔️ Dot one pea-sized drop across your clean, dry face to evenly distribute, then gently rub in.
✔️ If your skin becomes dry or irritated, skip a night or two and apply a moisturizer only. If the irritation persists or becomes severe, stop the medication.
Note: We do not add any fragrance to mask odors due to the high allergenicity of added fragrance. Your medication will have a slight earthy smell – that is normal.
Use a moisturizer. Apply immediately before or after to prevent irritation. This does not make it less effective.
Apply over the entire face. 😍 This formula works best to prevent acne. It is not a spot treatment. You should avoid your eyelids and the corners of your nose and mouth.
Simplify your routine. Stop using brushes and scrubs, toners, serums, masks, salicylic acid, AHA (e.g. glycolic or lactic acid), and retinol while starting your prescription treatment. When you are tolerating the prescription daily without irritation, you can add other treatments back in if desired (with the exception of retinol and salicylic acid -- these are redundant).
Caution: The most common side effects are redness, peeling, dryness, and irritation at the application site.
If you become pregnant while taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and message your doctor for an alternative.
