Clindamycin

We want to make sure you fully understand your treatment.
Below outlines the directions, benefits, expectations, and risks with Clindamycin.

Clindamycin is a topical antibiotic that kills acne-causing bacteria and decreases inflammation in the skin, thereby effectively treating acne.

How to apply your treatment:

  • Apply a small amount to the entire acne-prone area. It should be applied either once or twice a day, as directed by your physician. This medicine works best to prevent pimples, not as a spot treatment.
  • Avoid getting the medication very close to your eyes or near the corners of your mouth and nose. Do not wash the medicine off.

Tips to avoid irritation:

  • If your skin dries easily, apply a facial moisturizer over your entire face immediately after applying the medication.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Even if your acne starts to get better, keep applying the medication to keep your acne under control.
  • Consistent Usage is Key!

Allergy alert:

This medication very rarely can cause severe allergic reactions in some patients. Stop using it and seek emergency help if you experience severe swelling, shortness of breath, or severe diarrhea.

If you become pregnant while taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and message your doctor for an alternative.
