Clindamycin + Benzoyl Peroxide Formula

We want to make sure you fully understand your treatment.
Below outlines the directions, benefits and risks with
Clindamycin + Benzoyl Peroxide Formula.

This combination medication is used to treat acne.

Clindamycin is a topical antibiotic that works primarily through its anti-inflammatory effects. Benzoyl peroxide is an antimicrobial that decreases inflammation and prevents antibiotic resistance.

Directions:

Apply over the entire acne-prone skin. It works best to prevent breakouts, not as a spot treatment. Dot one pea-sized drop across your face to evenly distribute, then gently rub in.

Avoid the eyes. Avoid the corners of your nose and mouth too.

Use a moisturizer. Apply immediately before or after to prevent irritation. This does not make it less effective.

Don’t apply with tretinoin. Benzoyl peroxide breaks down tretinoin making it less effective. If using tretinoin, space these at least 4 hours apart.

Use white towels and linens. Benzoyl peroxide bleaches colored fabrics (but not your skin!).

Simplify your routine. Stop using brushes and scrubs, toners, serums, masks, salicylic acid, AHA (e.g. glycolic or lactic acid), and retinol while starting your prescription treatment. When you are tolerating the prescription daily without irritation, you can add other treatments back in.

Listen to your skin. If your skin becomes mildly irritated, reduce frequency of use. If the irritation persists or is severe, stop the medication.

Caution:

Possible side effects include redness, dryness, stinging, irritation or oiliness, and peeling.
