- Do not use if you have a known hypersensitivity reaction to penicillin or the cephalosporin class of antibacterial drugs.
HOW TO USE
- Take medication as directed by your dermatology team.
- Take with food if you experience an upset stomach.
SIDE EFFECTS
- The most common side effects of ampicillin are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting or upset stomachs. Vaginal yeast infections can occur with prolonged use.
- This medication may rarely cause a severe intestinal infection (clostridium-dificile associated diarrhea). Symptoms may include persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain/cramping, and blood/mucus in your stool. This medication should not be taken if you are allergic to penicillin or have infectious mononucleosis. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
HOW TO STORE
- Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children.
- Store it at room temperature and away from light, excess heat, and moisture.
