SIDE EFFECTS


Common side effects of ampicillin include diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Other possible side effects include abdominal pain, rash/hives, and mouth/tongue sores. This medication may rarely cause a severe intestinal infection (Clostridium-dificile associated diarrhea). Symptoms may include persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain/cramping, and blood/mucus in your stool. This medication should not be taken if you are allergic to penicillin or have infectious mononucleosis. Allergic reaction to this medication is rare. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching/swelling (especially of face/tongue/throat), dizziness and trouble breathing. Should you become pregnant, please stop this medication and check in with your dermatologist.
